An Integrated Water and Power Modeling Package

This is an open-source optimization package that wraps a water accounting tool, MODSIM, which utilizes minimum cost network flow optimization to solve its network, with a nonlinear optimization technique known as the conditional gradient algorithm (a.k.a. Frank-Wolfe algorithm) and a gradient ascent algorithm that solves a master problem decomposed by Lagrangian Relaxation. In particular, the application that these algorithms are applied to is connecting the simulation of a water system with that of a power grid of interconnected power systems. Feedbacks between the hydropower system of rivers and reservoirs can be explored with those of the interconnected power system.

This project directly resulted from research with the Hydro Research Foundation and Colorado State University that is currently documented in a M.S. thesis found here.
